Publishers, new technology comming to the rescue

Global recession has pinched the newspapers hard. We can read on off the scale redundancies in general, regional, commercial and public media. At the same time the prices of print, paper and energy have risen dramatically. Management boards are already in hectic search for the great economization solution. This is the crisis which will shake the basis of the newspaper businesses.

Despite the effort of newspapers and magazines to cut down cost or shut down the desk, the readers are still keen on the latest fresh information, today more than ever. In U.S.A., where crisis had greater impact than elsewhere, we can cause no great astonishement, if magazines turn their business exclusively to the web.

Going digital is also the present business opportunity. Newspapers are run only by a  handful of staff, which is unburdened with all the work that goes into print preparation and advertising organization. The new digital media are advertiser-friendly, they offer interactive advertisement placement at minimal costs, which is especially attractive to numerous medium-sized and small businesses. At the same time new editions offer easy expansion into new markets at practically no extra cost.

eDition is a complete solution for publishers

Our new application for enriched digital publishing does not require any additional program equipment to launch your media on the web. You can use the same file employed upon recently for paper print (.pdf). Enriched digital content preserves the look and feel of the printed version and, in addition, adds interactivity. Digital publishers record to up to 900% increase in unique visitors with the use of enriched digital edition. Simultaneously the use of eDition signifies substantial savings and easily surveyable operation. Besides conventional, the publisher can use additional channels of publication streaming, such as RSS, Yahoo and mobile devices. The publication is also open to Facebook, blog, Digg and Delicious addition, as well as interactivity to other social media.

The oldest newspaper in Sweden, Inrikes Tidnigar, has also decided to go solely digital. If this is the way  for the future, it will be open for discussion on the 37th World Magazine Congress FIPP 5th - 6th May in London.   We warmly invite you to the exposition no. 41 where you can see our eDition solution to the publishing situation in person.
